Learning in Classroom

Our Curriculum

Le Grand International School succinctly aims to provide a child-centric approach to education. Our academic and co-curricular activities are designed to create awareness in students and provide them with learning experiences that can be applied to real-life situations.

The school is affiliated with the Council for the Indian School Certificate Examinations (CISCE) board. With its affiliation with CISCE, the school prepares students for the Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE) in Senior school. The board and the curriculum offer new teaching practices, encourage a questioning mind, and provide global content. Students in ICSE board have a strong base in English which gives them an edge when it comes to applying for universities and competitive exams.

Pre-primary School Grade (Nursery, LKG & UKG)

Nurturing the First Steps into Education

In the realm of early childhood education, the Pre-primary program serves as the initial stepping stone for every child’s educational journey. It is in this program that young learners are welcomed into a world of warmth, safety, and boundless opportunities to play, learn, and develop essential social skills.

A Safe and Secure Haven

One of the foremost priorities of the Pre-primary program is to provide a safe and secure haven for both children and their parents. Recognizing that the first day of school can be a daunting experience, the school goes above and beyond to create an atmosphere of warmth and reassurance.

Fostering Social and Emotional Growth

The Pre-primary program places a strong emphasis on social development. Through carefully designed activities, young learners are encouraged to interact with their peers, share, and communicate effectively.

Unlocking the Power of Imagination

At the heart of the Pre-primary program is the belief that children learn best when they are actively engaged in exploring the world around them. Whether it’s through art, storytelling, or hands-on play, young minds are encouraged to question, create, and discover.

Primary School Grade (I-V)

The primary school curriculum is meticulously designed to provide a nurturing and enjoyable learning environment for children as they take their first steps into the world of formal education.

The Essence of Exploration

Central to the primary school experience is the spirit of exploration. Children are naturally inquisitive, and the curriculum capitalizes on this innate curiosity by incorporating a range of activities that make learning not only informative but also genuinely enjoyable.

Themes: Connecting the Dots

Themes serve as a fundamental building block of the primary school curriculum. These overarching concepts or topics act as a unifying thread, weaving various subjects and lessons together.

Storytelling: Nurturing Imagination

Storytelling plays a pivotal role in primary education. It goes beyond simply reading stories from books; it involves creating narratives and immersing children in the world of words. Through storytelling, children develop their language skills, expand their vocabulary, and ignite their imaginations.

Circle Time: Building Social Bonds

Circle time is a cherished tradition in primary education. It’s a moment when students gather in a circle to share their thoughts, ideas, and experiences. This not only builds a sense of community but also enhances crucial social skills.

Integration into Core Subjects

What makes the primary school curriculum truly effective is its ability to seamlessly weave these exploratory activities into core subjects.

Language Learning: Beyond the Basics

Language learning extends far beyond textbooks and grammar rules. Through themes and storytelling, children learn to use language as a tool for expression and communication. It transforms language from a mere subject into a means of exploration and self-expression.

Exploring Environmental Science: Learning by Doing

Environmental science, often taught through themes such as “Ecosystems” or “Sustainability,” becomes a captivating journey of discovery. Children learn about the world around them by actively engaging with it, whether it’s planting trees, observing wildlife, or participating in recycling initiatives.

Mastering Mathematics: A Playful Approach

Mathematics, often considered daunting by some, takes on a playful aspect in the primary school curriculum. Concepts are seamlessly integrated into themes and hands-on activities, making math relatable and enjoyable.

Navigating the Digital World

In our increasingly digital age, computer literacy is essential. The primary school curriculum introduces children to the world of computers through engaging activities. They not only learn how to use technology but also how to think critically in a digital context.

Middle School Grade (VI-VIII)

Middle School: A Crucial Phase of Holistic Development

Middle school is a pivotal stage in a student’s educational journey, a bridge between childhood and adolescence. At Le Grand International School, we recognize the significance of this phase and have tailored our curriculum to cater to the unique needs of middle school students. Our primary focus during these years is to foster holistic development, emphasizing the development of social skills, organizational abilities, responsibility, self-sufficiency, and the nurturing of creative thinking abilities.

Developing Vital Social Skills

Middle school is a time when students begin to explore their identities and interact with peers more independently. We provide a nurturing environment where they can develop essential social skills such as effective communication, empathy, cooperation, and conflict resolution. Through group projects, collaborative activities, and interactive learning, students learn the art of working harmoniously with others.

Cultivating Organizational Abilities

One of the key life skills we impart in middle school is the ability to stay organized. Our students learn valuable time management techniques, goal setting, and how to prioritize tasks. These skills empower them to manage their academic responsibilities efficiently and carry these essential life skills into adulthood.

Fostering Responsibility and Self-Sufficiency

Responsibility and self-sufficiency are cornerstones of our educational approach. Middle school students are encouraged to take ownership of their learning journey. They learn to manage assignments, set personal goals, and make informed decisions. This sense of responsibility not only prepares them for future academic challenges but also instills a strong sense of accountability in their actions.

Encouraging Creative Thinking

Creative thinking is a skill that transcends disciplines and is crucial for personal and professional success. We stimulate creativity through open-ended projects, artistic expression, and activities that encourage students to think outside the box. Our aim is to nurture their ability to approach problems with innovative solutions.

Preparing for Interdisciplinary Learning

The knowledge and skills acquired during middle school serve as the foundation for interdisciplinary approaches in later years. By introducing students to a diverse range of subjects, they begin to see the interconnectedness of knowledge. This interdisciplinary perspective equips them to tackle complex issues and make informed decisions in an increasingly interconnected world.
